Managing Privacy

The airCoda app collects personal CO₂ exposure over time, and (optionally) also collects the location of every data point. Because location data is so personal and sensitive it must be carefully protected.

Your location is never made public or shared with anyone other than you. For additional privacy, a better way to protect sensitive data is not to store it in the first place, so airCoda provides a way to selectively block location data from ever leaving your phone.

Your data is stored under a randomly generated private userId, not tied to your email address. You can set up "dark zones" or "light zones" to control where location is tagged to points in the database, and where location is entirely blocked. See more details in the installation instructions.
